Probationary Officers are being recruited by State Bank of India through written exam which is to be held on 28th of April, 2013. Central Recruitment Board holds these exams as PO Exam every year. The examination of 2013 is being held for 1544 posts. 225 posts are reserved for SC candidates, 112 posts are meant for ST category, 404 vacancies are reserved for OBC category and 758 seats are meant for general category.
Graduates with first class degree can sit for this examination and they should not be below 21 years or above 30 years. Only Indians can sit for this exam.
SBI PO Exam Syllabus 2013
Part A of the syllabus consists of topics related to reasoning. Questions are given in verbal and non-verbal form. The questions can be on analogies, differences, space visualization, analysis, decision making, discrimination, relationship concepts, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, similarities, problem-solving, judgment, visual memory, observation, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification plus much more. Analytical function, arithmetical computation, abstract symbols, abstract ideas and everything related to them form part of the syllabus.
English Language paper tests a candidate’s grammar, his knowledge of Antonyms and Synonyms, grammar, sentence completion, comprehension and vocabulary etc.
Numerical ability aims at testing the knowledge of a candidate regarding whole numbers, relationship between numbers, fractions and decimals.
Questions in general knowledge are based on general awareness. A person needs to keep his knowledge updated about the current affairs.
Second part of the syllabus is subjective in nature. Cognitive abilities are tested in this part.
Beside the use of English and Hindi, regional language is also used in the paper.
SBI PO Exam Pattern 2013
To become an officer with State bank of India a person has to sit for a written exam. The exam is descriptive in nature. The paper is given in two languages i.e. Hindi and English.
Object questions are based on Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Test of Comp Lit/English and Test of General Awareness. Every wrong answer comes with a penalty of ¼ marks. English Language is tested in forty five minutes. Psychometric test questions are carry no negative marking.
Group discussion and an interview follow the written exam. Final result is only declared after the result of both the exams is out. One needs to clear both the exams in order to become an officer with the SBI Group.
