Preliminary examination of IAS 2013
The ICS exam is held in three phases. First phase of exam that is preliminary exam consists of two objective papers covering general studies (compulsory for all) and optional subject question paper. Only candidates who qualify the preliminary exam can apply for IAS mains exam. Merit list of candidates is prepared on basis of their marks obtained by them in IAS pre- exam.
IAS Main examination 2013 Syllabus
Now the candidates who qualified the preliminary examination have to face IAS mains exam. This exam consists of subjective question papers. Marks obtained in the IAS mains exam are considered in preparation of final merit of selected candidates along with marks of interviews. Here is detail of syllabus
Paper-I Divided in section as 1 - Essay ( 200 Marks) 2- English Comprehension & English Précis( 100 Marks)
Paper-II G S– I 250Marks
Paper-III G S –II 250 marks
Paper-IV G S –III 250 Marks
Paper-V GS –IV 250 Marks
Optional Subject – Aspirants have option to choose one or two subject. In case they are selecting one subject, there will be two paper on same subject and they do not require to choose second subject. These papers Paper-VI and paper VII will be of 250 Marks each. So Maximum marks of Mains exam will be of 1800 Marks.
Interview – Successful candidates of Mains exam will be called for Interview. Interview will be of 275 Marks. Only after considering marks of Mains exam and Interview that makes Grand total Marks of 2075, final selection merit list will be prepared.
Tips for How to prepare current year IAS Exam 2013
Although success in IAS exam is based on studies, guidance and dedication. Proper study material according to subject can be purchased from market or coaching institutes for preparation. Aspirants should start preparation at least one year before applying for exam. There are limitation on number of attempts so, candidates should not waste their attempt without full preparation on subjects. Scope of questions are wide and require lots of strategies to cover the whole subject. Current affairs are most important part not only in written exam but in interviews too. Most often question asked in Interviews are based on current affairs on national and international level.
A candidate who is preparing for IAS exam should not only concentrate on pre or mains exam but prepare every stage including interview from start. Group discussion with friends and regular study can bring success for aspirants preparing to succeed in IAS exam 2013.
